In particular, make sure you have the 'lame' element installed. You
can check this with 'gst-inspect-0.10 lame'; that should spit out lots
of info about the lame encoder.
Banshee can't use GStreamer's AAC encoder - there isn't an mp4 muxer
that works (quite yet, I believe there's one written as a part of this
year's GSoC) and a raw AAC stream is useless. Thus, you need to
transcode to mp3, thus you need lame.
Additionally, if you start Banshee with the --debug switch, it'll spit
out some details about the transcoding profiles that would normally be
available but are not because of problems on your system. That output
might be useful.
