"Just do it". If other programs do not have icons on buttons, balsa will survive too. Consistency is an important factor in making user feel that the interface is familiar and convenient.

Dear List,
Gtk has for some years discouraged the use of both text and an icon in the same button, going so far as to deprecate a function that creates such a button. Balsa continues to use them anyway, for instance in the spell-checker, but looks increasingly out of date. Compare, for instance, with Gedit's spell checker (screen shots attached).
I'd like to get rid of them--opinions?
