Great.  Thanks for the quick response.  Compile now succeeds.  However,  
I'm too tired to trust I wont mess up my mail (and I've already set up  
an rsync copy for safety) so I'm going to defer testing until  
tomorrow.  I'll definitely let you know how it goes.
