OK, that was easy--patched in master.  Sort first by your /secondary/  
column, say "Date", then by your /primary/ column, say "From".  Messages  
should then be grouped by sender, and sorted by date within groups.  Not  
entirely intuitive, unless you've worked with hierarchical sorts, but  
workable!
