sorry, I thought that was a typo, I used ehlo this time.

I just used my ip and that worked.

on port 587, I typed:

ehlo 65.25.217.145

and got the response:

250-mhub-c3.tc.umn.edu
250-8BITMIME
250-PIPELINING
250-DSN
250-AUTH=LOGIN
250-AUTH PLAIN CRAM-MD5 SKEY
250-STARTTLS
250 SIZE 100000000

same response with port 25.
