For me the vcard addresses come from the Gnome 1 Gnomecard address book,
which uses iso-8859, not utf-8. I think the translation works, though, as
I can browse the adresses in balsa using the little book icons, and
everything is displayed correctly.

I played a little more with it, and there are two different cases:

(1) try to enter an address with national chars which does not exist
When I try to enter e.g. "Jörg Müller" (which does not exist in the
address book), I can enter "J", but neither the "ö" nor any further input
will be displayed, and the cursor jumps to the beginning of the line.
There *is* same more data in this field, which may result in (bouncing)
mails sent to e.g. "Jörg@localhost" and to "Mü@localhost" (balsa should
reject mail addresses not conforming to rfc 2822, btw!).

(2) try to complete an existing address
E.g. the card "Albrecht Dreß" exists in the address book. When I type only
"Albrecht D" in the To:/Cc:/Bcc: entry, the address is completed
correctly, *including* the ß" character. When I type more and enter the
"ß", the completition vanishes, and I get the same behaviour as in (1)
above.

Cheers, Albrecht.
