IMHO, we should also set 8859-15 for english. The differences are tiny (just 
check with
xfd -fn "-*-courier-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" and
xfd -fn "-*-courier-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-15"), and maybe 
Britain will also join the Euro club some day (yes, I read your mail, 
Brian!). I don't think the "missing" chars from 8859-1 are really needed.
