aspell problem

I installed Balsa 1.0 hoping to take care of the problem I'd been having
with spell check, but it didn't. It says unable to load aspell module.
I've tried both aspell and ispell preference settings. I hope someone
won't mind to tell me in extreme newby language how to tell Balsa where
those files are. (usr/share/aspell) I'm running RH 7.
