I do that now.  Or rather, I check for modifiers before I process
the key.  I hope that this takes care of all
possibilities - works for CTRL and ALT.  Anyone have a non-intel
with an actual Meta key?  I've attached the patch.

I wonder - should send_message_cb() complain if the address isn't RFC822
compliant, and let you retype it?  Should it attempt to send anyway
and hope for a smart SMTP host, and maybe popup an error if the SMTP
server rejects valid RFC822 headers?
