balsa mailboxes

It seems to me, coming from an elm-and-netscape mailer world, that
Balsa's concepts of mailboxes are a little confusing.

Here are a few mail usage scenarios:

* local mail into inbox, possibly shoved into other folders by Balsa or
  procmail
* remote mail downloaded from server, then deleted from server
* remote mail sync'd with server

Balsa concept of mailboxes doesn't seem to jibe with all of the above
[yet?].
