Re: travel sponsorships, press kit and media partner.

Hi, Shirish,

Thanks for writing to us and your interests to participate at GNOME Asia Summit this year in Taipei.

To help the development of GNOME project in Asia, in our practice over years, applications for travel subsidy goes to travel committee of GNOME Foundation, and they will decide on priority: selected speakers will be in front on the line, and GNOME Asia committee members who organises conferences. Honestly, usually it is lack of budget for rest of participants. I hopes we can raise more fund for GNOME contributor development in Asia.

We will announce the call for proposals of GNOME Asia Summit in few days, please stay tuned at our social network on Twitter and Facebook for the announcememt. I suggests that you can try to submit proposals and see whether your proposal is selected by our program committee. If your proposal is not selected this year, GNOME Asia Summit will move to other countries in future years, and hopes you will join in future conferences.

Yours Sincerely,
Sammy Fung
President, Open Source Hong Kong.

Thank you.

I don't really know what sort of audience usually GNOME people compose of,
so may need help here a bit if that fits in your scheme of things.

I do have some ideas of what may or may not be good ideas for a GNOME
Asia talk, would like either you or Max or somebody whom you think I could
talk to, to have an idea which of the talks/ideas would be eligible or not
eligible for GNOME Asia.

Whether they get accepted or not, I understand it would have to stand on its
own merit.

While I know and have used GNU/Linux for more than a decade, I also know
that each community is different and each community has its own rules and ways
of doing things.

True, accepted.

There is another thing which I didn't elaborate as I didn't have the
go-ahead of
my editor, now that I have, here goes -

Please check out itsfoss.com and then read the points below .

If we are chosen the media partner, we will write at least two
articles. One announcing the event so that more people are aware of
the event and the event can get more registration and exposure. The
second article will be published after the event is concluded. A
summary of event, talks and highlights. This way, again, more people
would know about the event.

These articles will be shared several times with our readers, email
subscribers and social media followers (around 300K in total). If we
attend the event, we'll also share the events and its happenings live
on social media channels. If there are enterprises/companies
participating in the event, we can also interview/cover a few if they
fit our reader base. This way those enterprises will get more exposure
and more value by participating in the event.

Basically, we'll do everything in our capacity to make more people
aware of the event and thus contributing to the success of the event.
If the organizers i.e. you and your team expect something else from
us, please pitch in your suggestions and we will follow if it's
feasible.

What we need in return is not much.  We would want GNOME to  mention
us as their media partners on their website, event presentations (if
possible) and email communications about the event. If you want to
send swags and other merchandise, it's totally up to you but not
mandatory from our side. The partial travel sponsorship bit I have
already mentioned before.

Look forward to your thoughts on the above.
