It’s certainly good news to know that there is a GNOME Users Group from Malaysia! We will try to get in touch with them to find out if they’re interested to collaborate with us to bring this event to Malaysia.
On the other hand, I understand that you required information about support from local industries, universities and government support and also plan for fundraising. Does it means that local organiser will need to bear all financial commitment/risk?

Thanks for your interests to hosting future GNOME.Asia Summit.1. The future location is not fixed yet, any country in Asia can be a candidate place for the summit.

3. Usually, the organizer are member of GNOME foundation or GNOME community members, there is a GNOME Malaysia Users Group[1], the contact information are: gnome-my-list gnome org
It will be great to have Malaysia GNOME community members to join and host the event together.
We will call for bid in the beginning of July, the deadline of the call for bid will be September 1st. We will announce it later and also let you know once we call for bid for GNOME.Asia Summit 2015.

I am Athirah from the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB). We are a non-profit organisation established by the Ministry of Tourism & Culture Malaysia to develop Malaysia’s business events (meetings, incentive, conventions and exhibitions). We provide a range of services to assist Malaysian association to bid for and host international conventions in Malaysia. Part of our services to local association includes research for potential conference and other bid related matters.
I am writing with regards to GNOME.Asia Summit. We are researching on the possibility of bringing this event to our country and would be grateful if you could provide some basic information about destination selection process. I have visited your website but few questions still remain.
- I note that the GNOME.Asia will be held in Beijing China this year. Could you please advise what location has been planned for 2015 and beyond? When is the next open year?
- What is the bid requirement and expectation from host destination?
- Who can bid and host this summit? ‘m unable to locate any Malaysian member who is involved in GNOME.Asia but do you only accept bid proposal from your member?
