Excellent! We need more contributors and supporters to make the event
happen. Besides, we can all work together to help GNOME grow in Hong
Kong! Will definitely love to meet Jeromy as well.
Thanks,
Pockey

Dear All,
There is one more person I missed - Volunteer of DotAsia and President
of Wikimedia Hong Kong, Jeromy-Yu Chan. I had a phone conversation
with him on the phone and he would like to contribute as well.

Thanks Haggen for your introduction!
Dear Edmon and everybody,
It's very nice to meet the dotAsia team and of course Charles as well! As
Haggen said I have been a committee member of GNOME.Asia advocating GNOME in
Asia since its establishment in late 2007.
To give you a short introduction of GNOME (http://www.gnome.org) and
GNOME.Asia (http://gnome.asia), the GNOME Free Software Project includes The
GNOME Desktop Environment and the GNOME Development Platform. The GNOME
project intents to provide high quality FREE (as freedom) desktop to
everybody and an extensive framework for developers to build applications
that integrate into the rest of the desktop.
The GNOME.Asia committee aims to promote the GNOME project in different
Asian countries so that more people can benefit from the project. We have
been organizing annual events in Beijing, Ho-Chi-Minh City and Taipei. We
also encouraged and fostered the establishment of local GNOME communities as
well.
We are currently working on the GNOME.Asia Summit 2011 preparation (together
with our first GNOME Hackfest in Asia) most likely in April / May 2011. The
main objective of this event is to work on, celebrate and promote the GNOME
3.0 launch. We also want to leverage on this big GNOME event to build
awareness of the GNOME project in Asia.
The GNOME Foundation will make sure that top GNOME developers and
contributors / volunteers (marketing, release and documentation team) from
all over the world will join this event. We are contemplating Hong Kong and
Jakarta, Bangalore as hosting cities. The exact date and venue will be
confirmed 1st week of December.
I can foresee a lot of synergy between our organizations, we should
definitely meet and talk about our potential collaboration in the near
future. Please let me know what date and time will be convenient for you on
the week of 22 November.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Regards,
Pockey
