Hi Stormy,
Thanks for your inputs. We already put our target groups both at the
beginning of the survey and in the email of invitations. Maybe just
the name of the GNOME.Asia makes some of our potential participants
feel it's not for them...
However, after further promoting the survey to some defined targets,
we already have 34 responses until today and we should expect some
more developers filling the survey as Fred just helped to ask Red
Hat, I asked Canonical and Ubuntu community, while Emily is
following up with Oracle as well.
Since we will be deciding the event date on 16th Nov while the venue
on the 30 Nov, The cut off day of this survey will be 16th November.
Everybody please feel free to spread the words and invite potential
participants from different companies and communities to fill out
the survey before 16th November.
Thanks,
Pockey

On the survey, I think we should either be clearer
about "what's in in it for them" or "how they can help others", I
think the 2nd would work better.
I'm thinking that most GNOME people see "GNOME Asia survey" and
think "I've never been there, not going next year, my input isn't
valid."
So I think explaining who we want to fill out the survey and who
they would be helping might help get more people filling it out.

Meeting notes:

an update from Will.
- Update on statistic of pre-event survey
- Pockey: Update on the survey statistic
- Total response : 13
- Half of them didn't complete the whole survey
(answered 2/3 of the questions)
- only 3 of them involved in GNOME 3.0
- Responses very varied. Cannot conclude
anything based on it.
- Conducting the hackfest during the release is
more favored.
- Resolution: Let us
target the other mailing-lists to increase
participation.
- Update from each potential country hosts i.e. India,
Indonesia and Hong Kong
- No updates
collected. Let us wait for the results of the survey
and also finalizing the dates first.

GNOME.Asia Summit 2011
- Deadlines fixed.
Nov 15th - Date to be decided. Nov end - Venue
finalized.
- Discuss about call for sponsors.
- Start to approach companies end of Nov. Start this
as soon as we have a date and venue.
- Meanwhile keep collecting the list of companies to
approach.
- User experience feedbacks on GNOME Desktop
- Update from Emily:
- Ubuntu community is willing to join me to do the
survey
- I asked one member junyi from BGUG to work with
Ubuntu China to collect all the feedback from
gnome-cn and write a summary in English
- Currently, I found most of the feedback are about:
Applications needed, and community involvement and
Localization, I need to encourage more feedback
about User experience
- Update on the proposal of gnome.asia
website
New AI:

- Pockey: To create a wiki page (read / write by
committee members) and everybody to complete this
potential sponsor list
-
Fred (poor things who got tricked): To be in
charge of writing the call for sponsor document
that should be drafted once the date and venue
confirmed
- Wers: To update the survey questions for User
Experience
