You can talk about it to vte developers. Just curious don't you have
gnome-terminal? Because it's part of GNOME2 desktop, so it's very likely
that you will have it. And gnome-terminal uses vte. It will be strange
if you have gnome-terminal working with the broken vte.

We do not have any plan to have this switch, because vte is very much
part of GNOME and therefore is not really a dependency burden overall.
But if you are facing a temporary problem with it in Solaris 8 due to
broken xlib, then please feel free to work out a patch to disable it
(with or without the configure switch) to be used until xlib in solaris
is fixed. We can then avail it at anjuta website for others in similar
position to use.
