So I think the following should work:

group,
.... more stuff
but I'm afraid I cannot test this right now...
Please stop guessing :-) The XML specification does not allow this.
<!-- is a start comment, --> is an end comment, and you can't
put comments inside declarations.
SGML allows just -- to start and end a comment, but not XML.
