Go for it. Had the same thoughts as well after having reviewed the DOM
functions but hadn't started on it :)
If you haven't already thought of this, you might want to make an
internal function to find the attribute that also accepts a flag for DTD
checking.
This way the internal function could be used in a few other places as
well that are only looking for attributes in the tree.
