This bug manifests itself when preserving pattern "/" (ie. the entire
document). After reading the document, an attempt to subsequently
validate the document fails to resolve the external entity. This is
because the external identifier was being corrupted.
Right, I also updated the comment for the function, obviously I made
a cut'n paste from another function and forgot to update the description.
