I make libxml2 and libxslt available as Mac OS X frameworks, which
is significantly different to what is available via Fink.  Not that 
Fink is
a bad thing... far from it!

Fink binaries install into a fixed location in the filesystem.  This 
means
you must have Adminstrator (root) privileges to perform the 
installation.

OTOH, Frameworks may be installed anywhere - including locations
writeable by mere mortals.  There is a default search path for 
Frameworks,
which includes ~/Library/Frameworks.  Importantly, the Framework search
path also includes an application's Content/Frameworks directory which
means that an application can embed libxml2/libxslt within itself, 
making
distribution and installation of the application much easier.  tkxmllint
and tkxsltproc are examples of applications that do exactly that,
and installation of these applications is simply a matter of copying the
application to wherever you want it.  Contrast that with a Fink-based
application that would require use of the PackageMaker and a root 
password.
