[xml] MetaWeblog API?

First of all I just subscribed to this list and I hope my query is
appropriate.

I'm developing a GTK bloging client in C and I'm unhappy with the
current C libraries (xmlrpc-c, firerpc) for the MetaWeblog API. Can I
use libxml2 to talk to a MetaWeblog server? How would I do this? Has
anyone else done similar xmlrpc stuff? I'm very confused. Any help would
be ...um, helpful.
