[xml] pluggable XInclude processor?

Hi,

  I am curious about the xmlXIncludeProcess() code.  Is it
possible for me to plug into that code to call me back for
external requests?  

I have a need to specially handle the requests for xi:includes.
In particular, I'm thinking about buffering the set of requests
for asynchronous processing.  Has anyone else thought about
how to do this with libxml?  Feasible?  Significant rewrite?
