[xml] Installing libxml2 with stow

Hi,

I just tried to install libxml2-2.5.4 using stow
(http://www.gnu.org/software/stow/). However, when installing I ran into
the following problem:

# make install prefix=/usr/local/stow/libxml2-2.5.4
[...]

/bin/sh ../libtool  --mode=install /usr/bin/install -c libxml2mod.la
/usr/local/stow/libxml2-2.5.4/lib/python2.1/site-packages/libxml2mod.la
libtool: install: error: cannot install `libxml2mod.la' to a directory
not ending in /usr/local/lib/python2.1/site-packages

After installing, stow would have made the symbolic links so that
libxml2mod.la would be in /usr/local/lib/python2.1/site-packages

How I can make libtool ignore its problem? Or is there something special
with this library that makes libtool generate the error instead of just
issuing a warning?
