Hi all,
I'm getting lots of spam messages that originate from the W32 KLEZ
email virus.
For those who aren't familiar with this thing: it takes
the infected computer's MS Outlook address book and starts sending
itself to the various people listed in it. The sender of the message
is often also faked and taken from the address book. It also disables
common virus scanners. (!) See
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32 klez h mm html
I don't use Windows, so I'm not afraid to get infected, but I do get a
lot of messages from the worm: spam.
The reason I think the xml list is somehow involved (there could be
somebody on the list with an infected computer...) is that August 23
I got a klez worm in my mailbox with faked sender "daniel veillard com".
Furthermore the thread
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/xml/2002-July/msg00019.html
also looks like some klez variant could be involved.
Today, I just got another three klez messages. They all three
originate from the same domain as the "daniel veillard com"
message two weeks ago.
Is there anyone who is having similar problems?
Geert
