  Yes there had been some users, not that many actually contacted
the list. IIRC the main problems were relate with long identifiers
and if my memory is right one time the problem was solved by upgrading
to a recent version of the C compiler. But honnestly I don't have 
details. I know we have libxml2/libxslt running on S/390 within Red Hat
but it's on the Linux port :-)
