  It compiled fine here, the code looks clean though I didn't do an
intensive review and adding

-Wuninitialized -Wparentheses -Wshadow -Wpointer-arith -Wcast-align -Wwrite-strings -Waggregate-return 
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wnested-externs -Winline -Wredundant-decls

  to the CFLAGS spotted a few things to clean up ;-)
I also suggest you run some of your tests with valgrind as I did recently
it proved really efficient in spotting illegal memory accesses:
