You should probably do that anyway - Cygwin 1.1.8 is quite old now.
Thanks, Rob. I hadn't looked at the new versions of Cygwin, nor had I
realized that I could install the binary so easily. (I use Cygwin
primarily as a shell, and don't usually download new software directly to
it.) That did the trick.
