Re: [Vala] Operating system project

Thanks Drake, Luca, and Mario for news about these two new OSes, Kedos
and ElemtaryOS. (I suppose "Luna" is a name for a particular version
of ElementaryOS, like "Lucid" or "Precise" for Ubuntu?)

Drake --- writing an HIG sounds very promising.

My main question here is how do these two stand vis-a-vis an API?

I'm assuming that since this is the Vala list, that each actually does
have an API, and that it is expressed in Vala. That of course would
be very good.

And i think basing them on Ubuntu was probably a wise move, to avoid a
lot of wheel reinvention.

But, imvho, Ubuntu doesn't really have an API, at least, not in the
sense of something like Haiku. (It does have an API page, but not
really a well-defined, uniquely specified API, that specifies
canonical methods for writing applications.) I think in the
ElementaryOS/Luna case, the API would be part of Granite somehow?

Anyhow, i guess for ElementaryOS/Luna, i can just download it, burn a
CD, and look around to see if i can write an application.

Drake --- how far are we from being able to do the same thing with
Kedos? (I looked on launchpad, but i'm not very good at getting code
out of it :( . )

Thanks in advance for any info, and hope that my questions aren't
obviously answered by the docs (but if they are, please point me to
them --- i looked at Luca's link, which is where i found out about
Granite, but i don't have much feel for just what's in the API yet).

This is very interesting. Also, in case you didn't know, I'd like to point

Operating system project

Hi all ,
I've been working on a new OS called "Kedos"
..........
I've improved application designing with a framework API that contains
all what developer needs to build a great application , and with a simple
framework API we could decrease the time that developer needs to build an
app.
.........
And They are available on launchpad :

And now i'm currently working on a HIG for kedos
I'll link it on launchpad as soon as it get finished
