Re: [Vala] Monodevelop Support

Awesome to here! I really want to get the autocomplete support more
stable/effective, but outside that: Does anyone know if stetic is
super C# specific or if its code generation component could be ported
to generate vala code? Otherwise, offering autocomplete based on
GtkBuilder files might be an awesome next feature.

I'm not very familiar with Vala (its mostly been a curiosity) but the
issue I want to address is simple rapid GUI development in Gtk with
Vala. I'm open to ideas surrounding better ways to streamline this
workflow for people less familiar with Gtk.

As a discussion of the Vala syntax, (forgive me if this discussion has
already taken place) what are thoughts with regard to a more
adaptive/usable XML api? Right now it appears to be very libxml-ish. I
would love to see something similar to C# 3's Linq.XML libraries, very
concise and powerful. Obviously this relies on the authoring of a
GObject XML library (probably still based on libxml), however, I'm
curious as to peoples thoughts on this. libxml is powerful, but just
very difficult to use.

Cheers,
Kevin

I recently noticed that Monodevelop has a Vala profile. I'm glad to
see progress being made in this department (a powerful IDE for vala)
but I was just wondering who was behind the plugin, what its
development plans are/were, and if help was needed.

I've been the one working on the Vala addin so far.
I haven't created a roadmap yet; we've got some suggestions as to
what's needed from a Vala IDE in this thread:

To this point, I've been adding things that were easily portable from
the C addin and things that have become evidently necessary as a
result of dogfooding.

Help is always welcomed and appreciated!
