That menu gets worse every release. It hasn't fit on 1280x800 in a
while.  I just put things I use often in there and add the GNOME Control
Center to my System Menu.  Works better that way.

I think if it reports an error message it's something to do with dbus
not being started properly.  Er, at least that was the reason one of my
friends gave when it threw errors on his machine.
