Ok.. maybe some functions are irrelevant... but why remove ALL of the functions?
Does the "show hidden files" is the only relevant option? 
In my opinion the show/hidden files should be a button (maybe next to the path input) and things like open / save / execute / and others should be in the right click menu. It Increases the agility.

For example.
If i have a document and i want to put some image i have opened the open dialog and i have noticed that my image needs to be edited... must I go to nautilus to open the file? The path is right over there in front of me! The link is there! Why difficult my access to the file

In the past when we've had this discussion, most of those functions were
deemed irrelevant to the task at hand when you're opening or saving a
file.

This just sounds like a plain old bug-- please file it if nobody else
has.
