I would also like to throw in
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116647, which is a bug against
gtk+ for a notebook tab state API. I guess this bug is the right place
to discuss the technical aspects of such an implementation. (132173 is
against gnome-terminal.)
