I don't know if setting folder views to this by default is the best
idea. I have several directories with a large number of files, and this
would mean I'd constantly be shrinking them and/or turning them into
list views. A constant, reasonable default size seems the best solution
- and is the one that exists.
On the other hand, an "exact fit" button in the window's title bar was a
very important interface element of the Mac Finder. This made it easy to
get perfectly sized windows in a snap, and did a lot to address issues
in the smaller resolutions (also very topical to this thread).
This kind of functionality is far out of my abilities, but it would be a
wonderful wish list item. Anyone willing to bite?
