Sorry if it seems a bit OT...I thought I might get away with it 
because, in seeking a distro for novices, I'm mostly talking about 
usability. Maybe that's pushing it, but as was noted already, "what 
distribution?" is a tough question to get much of an answer to. I 
figured I might get some useful info from a usability-oriented list.
