Yes, that's my preferred 'Web Browser' (as written in the preferred
applications capplet) and that's the one that should be started when I
select a menu item labelled 'Web Browser'

The problem is that the plain generic name is just misleading if it
doesn't follow the preferred application preference.  The connection
between the two needs to be more clearly specified, or rather the case
when the preference is ignored.

The application selected in the preferred applications capplet doesn't
necessarily have a menu item of its own.

IMHO any generic 'Web Browser' kind of menu item should start whatever
the chosen preferred application is, and all applications should have
the '<name> <genericname>' label.  That setting would simply always do
the right thing.

Then it's a different question whether to show both '<genericname>' and
'<name> <genericname>' items when both refer to the same application.
