Okay, so I am a little offtopic.
I am not hung up about grippies not something I miss much.
In most cases I think I know to hover over the window edge until the
cursor changes or I use Maximise.

The grippies do aid discoverability but only a little, i think the notion
of resizing a window is non-obvious to newbies.

Only if it makes sense! Aargh, Grrr!

My point is that it never makes sense to prevent resizing.

Proof by contradiction, I only need one situation for it to make sense to
always allow resizing, it would be wisest and safest to always leave it
on.

I'll try and be quiet now.
