When I saw your ascii art there I thought you were going to suggest the
preview area be the large one on the right (for the same reasons you
gave)... I'd probably use nautilus a lot more if its previews were
*that* size :)

Well, mostly joking yes... the actual layout wasn't really what I was
thinking about anyway, to be honest, just the fact that both apps share
essentially the same set of components for doing essentially the same
jobs...
