Okay, implementation is where I won't be able to follow the 
discussion any deeper :-) However, the whole idea of putting the file 
selector in there sounds sweet. We could reduce the dialog's 
(default) height a bit. Making it wider than in my mockups should 
always be possible.

Would you be so kind as to add the implementation details you have in 
mind?
