Re: [Tracker] fresh install

I am only a user, but I would like to have a version that makes sense
to use.
There was a very old version in ubuntu for a long time that was a bit
unstable.

That's what you get from utopic, gnome ppa, gnome-staging ppa, or
utopic-proposed. 1.0.x is fine usually

jens laptop-jge: ~ $ apt-cache policy tracker
tracker:
  Installed: 1.2.4-1ubuntu1~utopic1

                Hi,

        Hi Björn,

I haven't been using tracker since 2013 and I have
                since completely
                reinstalled Ubuntu.

I wonder what the best way to install a relatively new
                version of
tracker is? I remember it as a bit of a challenge.
Is there a complete list of dependencies or a package
                script?
I suppose the tracker in ubuntu is old?

Which version do you want? The latest development, or stable,
        or unstable?

I suppose you could use something like:

          apt-get install tracker-*

I use JHBuild for building Tracker versions, which might be a
bit of work to get going.

        Ubuntu 14.10 has version 1.0.6-0ubuntu1. There is a 1.2.x
        release out already of course.

It depends on what you're doing with it. Development or purely
        as a user?
