Yes, I mean the search that comes up when you press the super key.

is there a way by which to prevent tracker from reindexing gnome

Hmm, Tracker is indexing "activities overview" ?
So, I understand *where* you mean by "activities overview", but I
don't know what it is you think we're indexing or doing from that.
I know Tracker can be used (depending on extensions and GNOME version)
to search for content there, but what content is it that we're
actively *re-indexing* ?
The only thing related, I can think of, is the .desktop files or
"Applications". I shouldn't think we're indexing those continuously on
search from the activities overview.
Perhaps I am missing something, but I don't really know how to help
you without more detail :)
Thanks,
Specifically the content I have in mind is ods files, rather than
applications. Every time I boot the computer, it takes a fair bit of
time before the files I am looking for are found via the search box in
the activities overview (i.e. pressing the super key). It's only after
15 minutes or so that the search comes up with any results (this does
not apply to Applications, which are always found immediately). I hope
this makes sense.
