Re: [Tracker] libmediaart bug 722795 - Saving .mediaartlocal/ dirs everywhere

Hi Martyn,

I think we should just remove it, or make it optionally configurable
with default set to off.

Because only between devices that run tracker is this a useful thing
to have (it provides faster lookup of mediaart).

We could also support the format or thing that for example Windows
Media Player does. It puts mediaart in the same directory as the .mp3
files. That clutters the directory even more in my opinion, but tell
that to the people in Redmond.

We're not really a media player, so I don't think we have a mandate
from the user to be writing to his removable devices. We should be as
read only to filesystems that we scan as possible.

Kind regards,

I agree, we should just remove it. I never liked it anyway (it
was a N9 requirement which we probably should have placed in a
#ifdef MEEGO #endif)

You think we should remove it entirely or use a top level directory
for removable media?
