For file thumbnails yes, that makes sense

Well for IM we had predicates like imAvatar if I remember correctly, so 
we did have a link between a resource and an avatar in the DB. Then, in 
the N9 in the contacts settings you can choose your "preferred avatar 
provider", I don't remember the logic in contactsd to get consistent 
results if it's not defined.

One potential issue would be that imAvatar would in a way be a 
sub-property of nao:hasSymbol, but not sure if this kind of ontology 
changes would be supported... Or if it even makes sense to have this 
"hierarchy".
