I think waaay back it might have been. At least we did used to do that 
with scripts to do the extraction IIRC. Quite messy :)

These days D-Bus instantiates it from tracker-miner-fs calling the 
tracker-extract APIs. Alternatively, for testing, you can use:

  TRACKER_VERBOSITY=3 $libexec/tracker-extract -d

To disable shutdown after 30 seconds of inactivity and you can watch the 
requests come in yourself.
