it seems (based on the CPU usage and the output of
tracker-control -F) that the installation of tracker 0.12.1 does
indeed reindex everything after it was stopped by using
tracker-control -t and started by tracker-control -s
Is there a way that I can confirm this (log-files)?
It will re-crawl to set up monitors, but reindexing no. It may
continue where it left off if you didn't shutdown when it was
idle.
OK - one additional question: I have seen somewhere, that the number
of monitors is limited by a setting for the file system, but that it
can be increased, but I do not remember where I have seen it - do you
probably know how this can be done? (FS: ext4)
Go root and give the new number, like:
# echo 524288 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches
Although this number may already be increased if you installed Tracker
through a packaging system. The Tracker Team PPA in Ubuntu already does
this:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~tracker-team/tracker/tracker.head/view/head:/debian/30-tracker.conf
