What is it? ===========

Tracker is a semantic data storage for desktop and mobile devices.
Tracker uses W3C standards for RDF ontologies using Nepomuk with
SPARQL to query and update the data.

Nice - I just compiled it, and I have a question: is has the status
icon disappeared? I can't find it anymore.

Yes. It's not relevant for users most of the time and it was removed
because of the introduction of GNOME shell too.

OK - that clarifies.

Also, it seems that the email indexing is not working - I compiled it,
but I can not find the plugin to install in thunderbird?

One thing currently missing is the miner status updates here for
tracker-control to pick this up. You should notice the progress in
Thunderbird itself on the status bar at the bottom right.

I don't see anything there - and I assume, I should see the tracker
plugin in the add-on list - which I don't.

If you still have problems, please file a bug.

I just want to make sure, that it is not me, before filing a bug.

- --enable-tracker-explorer --enable-tracker-needle --enable-taglib

sudo make install

I would have preferred checkinstall, but that one did not work

checkinstall?

Creates .deb file, which I can then install.

Cheers,

Rainer
