[Tracker] retaining tags for deleted/overwritten files

Hello all,

I have a large music collection and would like to group each song into
multiple categories. Because I don't want to store this information in
the file metadata itself, I think using tracker tags to categorize
each song would be a good solution. However I've run into a problem. I
am going to have to spend lots of time adding tags to my music and I
don't want those tags to be easily lost. I've discovered that if a
file has tags and it is deleted or overwritten, the tags are lost.
This is a problem because I occasionally make changes to my music
collection like replacing lossy versions of songs with lossless
versions. I would lke to know whether or not it is possible to make
tracker retain tag references to files, even if the files have been
overwritten or deleted. Thanks in advance.
