I agree that IndexRemovableMedia as it is may be a too rough cut for
your needs, but I don't think it should be possible to just let
applications bypass what the user told Tracker to do :).
We could perhaps have more fine grained configuration here to make a
difference between cameras, mp3 players, usb sticks and such.
I think the further down this road we go, the more erroneous and
difficult the solution becomes. We currently use GIO's API to know about
removable media. Right now there is no "type" information provided.
Finding out if we have "optical discs" in the list of removable media
was hard enough, separating mp3 players/usb sticks/etc is not possible
AFAICS. With HAL this was more achievable, but GIO doesn't have device
*type*.
