1) video/audio - I talked with gstreamer people and probably they will
write exif parser for gstreamer. May be i will write some of this too,
will see.
Yes, it is definitely a feature request for gstreamer. Once they support it, we get the support for free in tracker.
2) JPG is done
3) RAW. i do not have so many time to make complete new extractor for
RAW and keep it up to date. Do you have so match resources? Still do not
won't to use third part libs?
There is no problem using third party libs (as long as are license compatible with tracker). I doubt the current core team has time to implement it, but you can convince somebody in the community to help. The extractor API is easy, and if you have a library to handle the format, it is not much code. As usual, the hell is in the details.
Your problem is "too many options and different sources to get the information". In tracker we offer that unified view you need, but not all formats are supported. The easiest solution is to extend tracker to support them, rather than duplicate a lot of effort on your own.
4) DCIM. this was my actual target. Still trying to talk with you...
Haven't read your proposal yet, but again, you need somebody to implement it and we are willing to review and commit patches.
So if point 3 and 4 can't be done with tracker. I can't even start my
app, or i should do it without tracker. But tracker still need to learn
do 3 and 4.
Agree, and it can be done easily, we just need to find who :) I think that those are easy pieces for new contributors, so if anybody is looking for an idea to jump in the project... this is one! Sorry that we cannot promise that support, we have still a lot to do for a good 0.8 release.
Regards,
Ivan
