But really the most important issues to explain are the split and why it
was done. Including the new technology we use now, i.e. GIO for crawling
and the other modules which have newer external dependencies / updated
requirements.
Agree. The first things that come to my mind:
* The thumbnailer stuff is very interesting, maybe other projects can start using it and remove the dependency with libgnomeui.
* Also the new evolution/mail architecture is very nice, and it can be used for other external apps (i usually use as example a module to monitor flickr). It is not going to do it for 0.6.9, but very soon.
* Now you can write indexer modules in vala (the API is binding-friendly, i guess that also python would work)
* New contributors can help writing extractors for new formats
I think if you need some inspiration there is a list of changes which
Tshepang has been working on for the up and coming upstream release.
These are in the NEWS file I think.
During this week we should prepare the Release Note and those release details... ;)
