Hi all,

Hi :)

  So... comments?

Well I was hoping to avoid two forced consecutive reindexes (one for
0.69 and one for 0.7)

I don't think that will be possible.

Depending on time (not mine but the nokia team - I shall have some time
around xmas) I would like to release in january with FTS and decomposed
tables including updated ontology (nepomuk and/or xesam)

I think these time scales are unworkable. Even if we had another 10 people on the project, we wouldn't have enough time to work out the stability and testing to make sure we are happy with the release.

So I would prefer any time to be spent on getting the db and index
structure finalised.

I agree. This and volume support are top priorities. As Phillip said, a number of us were involved in volume support this week, including myself, phillip, Ivan and Jürg. We recognise there is still work to be done (specifically on the statistic part which is currently kept in QDBM) and we will improve on that when FTS is ready.

If the above is not realistic then we could well do a 0.69 before xmas

That was our feeling.

Right now, as already mentioned, there are a number of things going on in January and after:

- Crawler to move to Indexer
- FTS support
- Denormalised tables
- Turtle support
- Better libtracker support for Maemo platform applications?

I have probably left a few things out. But none of these are quick tasks by any measure, most are on different branches and most will require a lot of patch review and testing. As a ballpark I would say you are looking at at least 3 months for those to get bedded into TRUNK code base.

It is better to release now. We have been focusing on bug fixing quite a lot recently and reluctantly adding features due to the current Maemo platform. This doesn't mean we have to do the same upstream, but I would suggest releasing both at the same time is probably the best way to release something stable anytime soon.

Also pls keep an eye on

Thanks.
