I've added .desktop extraction to tracker-extractor.
I'm started work on trackerd. What I can see the Application indexing is prepared as a own service type. I was planning to do it as a part of "Files".

What is your thought on this?

I think we need locale specif stuff in there too like App:LocaleName

Also App:Exec so we can lauch them in the GUI

Feel free to make a start and I can add anything missing later...
